Top Triathlete Oscar Galindez to Compete in Inaugural Ironman 70.3 San Juan.


January 6, 2011 (San Juan, PR) –Professional triathlete and Olympian Oscar Galindez, a multiple Ironman and 70.3 champion, has confirmed his participation in Ironman 70.3 San Juan, taking place on March 19.

“It is my pleasure to compete in the inaugural Ironman 70.3 San Juan in Puerto Rico,” said Galindez. “This is a major step in the development of triathlon in the country. I love competing in Latin America because the warmth and support from the people is different.”

Galindez, who was born in Rio Tercero in the Province of Córdoba, Argentina, started his athletic career in track and field and later moved to basketball. He decided to participate in his first triathlon, which took place in the Province of Córdoba, after seeing an Ironman event on TV. He became passionate about the sport and set his goals on turning elite.

“The day that I crossed the finish line of my first triathlon, I discovered the warrior inside of me,” Galindez said.

With this mantra, Galindez has secured many titles and has an impressive resume with more than 20 years of experience. He has earned a reputation as a top contender in both Latin America and around the world. His top placements include wins at Ironman Brazil, Ironman 70.3 Brazil, Ironman 70.3 Cancun, Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island and a second-place finish at the 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3.
